On its meeting on August 20, 2013, the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission plans to adopt a draft decision on the Technical Regulation of the Customs Union, “On the Safety of Chemical Products.”  According to the draft decision, the Technical Regulation will be enforced on February 15, 2015.

The draft regulation establishes rules on the classification of chemicals; an inventory of Chemical Substances and Mixtures of the Customs Union; notification of new chemical substances and mixtures; SDS; labeling; packaging and placing on the market. The inventory and the notification of new chemical substances will be new policies for Russia. After the Board adopts the draft decision, the proposal, which is based on GHS, will go to the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission for a decision.

The Board will also consider drafts of two other chemical regulations tomorrow: On the “Safety of Paints” and the “Safety of Synthetic Detergents and Household Chemicals”.
